Today marks the 3 week countdown to the greatest drinking event in the nation. I am talking about none other than the Oregon Brewers Festival, July 24-27th. An event where more than 70 brewers supply their sweet nectar to more than 60,000 people over the four day weekend.

As with tradition, my friends and I will be arriving Saturday at noon when they open. We will populate our traditional location, the north end of the southern tent and drink until dusk (it used to be “drink until dark” but we have gotten old.)

To all who may read this, gather your drinking clothes and cash and meet us in 3 weeks. You will have such a good time, that only through
drinking you would forget it (which is why we take pictures!)

Check out http://www.oregonbrewfest.com/

I am instead referring to Superdog restaurant in downtown Portland.

After a healthy walk on a hot day, I had some pretty high
expectations for this place. I can tell you the trek and the sweat was easily
worth it as I had an excellent lunch. For my first time there, I chose the
Double Smokie Dog Texan Style (onions, peppers and BBQ sauce) and an Italian
Dog Italian Stallion Style (peppers and onions, Parmesan cheese and marinara
sauce.) Both dogs were lean, flavorful and served on very well made rolls. The
staff was very pleasant and prepared the order quickly. The cost was nominal
compared to the food received and I would happily return there. Now I just have
to get back to continue to explore their expansive menu. Go out of your way for
a Superdog, it will be worth the trip!

Check them out at http://www.superdogpdx.com/

My hobby ADD has kicked in again, and I have been inspired by the new Warhammer 40K Daemons codex. My inspiration has brought me to start a new army. This army will be a Nurgle force. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Warahmmer mythos, Nurgle is the chaos daemon responsible for death, decay and disease. That theme should be quite clear based on the models.

So here are the completed units in all their glory, starting with two units of Plague Bearers:

Next up is a bunch of Nurglings:

Finally, we have thier fearless leader; The Great Unclean One:

If you are thinking “man, they look disgusting”, then I have done my job!

My goal is to creating 4 table center pieces to establish an overall theme to the gaming table.

My first centerpiece was a Ziggurat for a Lizardman table.

Since the terrain making process is collective in my club, most of these pieces will be finished by other club members (hopefully by members who paint far better than I.)

In addition to this piece, I created a couple of spawning pools to accompany it. They are all constructed of Extruded Polystyrene (pink insulation foam) and mounted on 1/4″ hardboard.

As I continue to play Warhammer 40K, it’s clear that I need a second complete army to vary my experience and playing style. With the release of the new Chaos Marine codex, it seemed like a good place to start. I have a couple of specific goals in completing this force.

The army will primarily consists of troop models, rather than vehicles

The force will represent a Renegade Marine chapter, so I will be avoiding mutations and deamons

Each model will be modeled as uniquely as possible

With the new codex providing Bolter, Bolt Pistol and CCW for standard Chaos Marine, I will work towards modeling all weapons on applicable models

The force will be assembled using a mix of Chaos Space Marine, Space Marine and Khorne Beserkers parts, fully unitizing my bitz box.

I will exhaust as many existing models as I have for this project before purchasing new models

With those goals in mind, I begin the construction of my yet unnamed Renegade force.
